چکیده

We define the notion of a torsor for an inverse semigroup, which is based on semigroup actions, and prove that this is precisely the structure classified by the topos associated with an inverse semigroup. Unlike in the group case, not all set-theoretic torsors are isomorphic: we shall give a complete description of the category of torsors. We explain how a semigroup prehomomorphism gives rise to an adjunction between a restrictions-of-scalars functor and a tensor product functor, which we relate to the theory of covering spaces and E-unitary semigroups. We also interpret for semigroups the Lawvere-product of a sheaf and distribution, and finally, we indicate how the theory might be extended to general semigroups, by defining a notion of torsor and a classifying topos for those.

u-Singularity and t-Topos Theoretic Entropy

We will give descriptions of u-singularities as we introduce the notion of t-topos theoretic entropies. The unifying methodology for a u-singularity is the universal mapping property of an inverse or direct limit. The qualitative, conceptual, and structural analyses of u-singularities are given in terms of inverse and direct limits of micro decompositions of a presheaf and coverings of an objec...

SEMIGROUP ACTIONS , WEAK ALMOST PERIODICITY, AND INVARIANT MEANS

Let S be a topological semigroup acting on a topological space X. We develop the theory of (weakly) almost periodic functions on X, with respect to S, and form the (weakly) almost periodic compactifications of X and S, with respect to each other. We then consider the notion of an action of Son a Banach space, and on its dual, and after defining S-invariant means for such a space, we give a...

Variable sets over an algebra of lifetimes: a contribution of lattice theory to the study of computational topology

A topos theoretic generalisation of the category of sets allows for modelling spaces which vary according to time intervals. Persistent homology, or more generally persistence, is a central tool in topological data analysis, which examines the structure of data through topology. The basic techniques have been extended in several different directions, encoding topological features by so called b...

Intersection graphs associated with semigroup acts

The intersection graph $mathbb{Int}(A)$ of an $S$-act $A$ over a semigroup $S$ is an undirected simple graph whose vertices are non-trivial subacts of $A$, and two distinct vertices are adjacent if and only if they have a non-empty intersection. In this paper, we study some graph-theoretic properties of $mathbb{Int}(A)$ in connection to some algebraic properties of $A$. It is proved that the fi...
